For Parents
Parental Involvement
Our school community promotes learning as an ongoing process that involves everyone who regularly interacts with your child. Of particular importance is your role as parents and carers. You are the first educators of your child and we encourage and support you to continue to have an active role in their learning throughout their primary school education. Open communication, mutual respect and cooperation are recognised as being important elements that assist children to become successful learners and we strive to provide these qualities in all our interactions between school and home.
Your child will appreciate every effort you make to be a presence at school. Attending assemblies, liturgies, special celebrations, publication events and/or parent meetings provide valuable insights into your child’s educational world and help build and celebrate friendships and new connections.
Student Counselling Service
Marymead CatholicCare provides the school with a school counsellor, who is currently at the school every Monday. If you would like to refer your child for this service, please see below.
Our school counsellor Madi will be on maternity leave from week six of term four, 2023. For any questions or concerns please reach out to your classroom teacher, support staff or to Madi directly. If your child is needing further assistance this term, school staff or Madi can direct you to appropriate community or private services that can assist your family until we return in Term 1, 2024.
School Community Council
Working with the Parish Priest, Principal, staff and parent body, the School Community Council (SCC) meets once per term with the primary role to support the mission of Catholic education at Ss Peter & Paul’s School. The Council has a decision-making role in certain policy areas and an advisory role in others.
Parents and Friends
All parents are welcomed and encouraged to come along to P&F meetings to share ideas, raise money through fundraising events and provide an avenue where new and existing families meet and are able to become involved in the life and activities of the school.
Class Carers
The purpose of the class carer program is to promote connections and a sense of belonging within our school. Generally one or two parents from a class volunteer to facilitate an informal communication group.
Canteen
Ss Peter and Paul's offers a canteen for students to purchase lunch orders Tuesday-Friday. Our superb canteen menu can be accessed here:
