Parental Involvement

Our school community promotes learning as an ongoing process that involves everyone who regularly interacts with your child. Of particular importance is your role as parents and carers. You are the first educators of your child and we encourage and support you to continue to have an active role in their learning throughout their primary school education. Open communication, mutual respect and cooperation are recognised as being important elements that assist children to become successful learners and we strive to provide these qualities in all our interactions between school and home.

Your child will appreciate every effort you make to be a presence at school. Attending assemblies, liturgies, special celebrations, publication events and/or parent meetings provide valuable insights into your child’s educational world and help build and celebrate friendships and new connections.

School Community Council

Working with the Parish Priest, Principal, staff and parent body, the School Community Council (SCC) meets monthly (Weeks 3 and 7) with the primary role to support the mission of Catholic education at Ss Peter & Paul’s School. The Council has a decision-making role in certain policy areas and an advisory role in others.

Parents and Friends

All parents are welcomed and encouraged to come along to P&F meetings to share ideas, raise money through fundraising events and provide an avenue where new and existing families meet and are able to become involved in the life and activities of the school.

There are 4 components to the fee structure:

  • The Tuition Levy - This amount of $293 is set by the Catholic Education Commission and is remitted to the Catholic Education Office. This is a family fee and is only charged once for each family.
  • The Building Levy - This amount assists with meeting the costs of insuring and maintaining school buildings. This is a family fee and is only charged once for each family.
  • The Operating Levy - This amount covers the day-to-day operating costs of the school e.g. cleaning, water, gas, electricity, phone and other administrative costs.
  • The Student Levy - This amount covers the costs incurred in providing quality education for the students, necessary teaching and learning resources and equipment in each classroom. It also covers the cost of the bus to and from the Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics carnivals, a school performance and visiting the Life Education Van.

Children will be asked to supply their own stationary items and bring in a box of tissues each so that the levies are not increased any further for 2018. An equipment requirements list for each year will be sent home to advise you of what each year level requires.

The fee structure, for 2018, is required to meet the needs of Ss Peter and Paul’s Primary School with regard to the change in the Catholic Tuition Fee structure that incorporates siblings at Trinity Catholic Secondary College.

Ss Peter and Paul’s Primary School students with siblings at Trinity will be billed at the rate of 50% of the CEO Tuition Levy ie $146.50 per term.

To obtain the 50% sibling discount on the family Tuition Levy, a letter confirming enrolment of siblings at Trinity Catholic College is required.

An inability to pay school fees should not preclude any child from receiving a Catholic Education. You are urged to make an appointment to discuss any financial difficulties that may arise.

The school is now able to offer a variety of payment methods that include: cash, cheque, eftpos, credit card and BPay.

Sincerely,

Miss Kathy Neely
School Principal
