How Mini-Whiteboards Are Lifting Learning
You may have heard your child mention using a mini whiteboard in class - a small tool that’s making a big difference in how students learn and show what they know at Saints Peter and Paul.
Across the school, our teachers are using mini whiteboards as part of our teaching approach based on Catalyst principles and High Impact Teaching Practices (HITP). These whiteboards allow every student in every classroom to actively take part in lessons and give teachers a clear window into their thinking and understanding. Whether it’s solving a mathematics problem, sharing a writing idea, or responding to a question, students are regularly using their boards to show their understanding in real time.
This helps teachers quickly spot who’s on the right track, who might need more support, and where the class can go next in their learning. It also encourages all students to have a go, make their thinking visible, and learn from one another in a supportive environment.
We’re also pleased to share that these evidence-based strategies are having a clear impact. Our school’s academic results have continued to improve year after year since utilising this practice, among many other HITP principles.
Your child’s results speak for themselves. Our commitment to supporting your children in the classroom and their academic growth using HITP has led to student growth of approximately fourteen months over the past twelve month period according to nationally recognised and Diocese-supported benchmarking assessments.
This progress reflects the hard work and effort your children bring to their learning each and every day, combined with the evidenced based practices, such as mini-whiteboards, that our teachers utilise to create a positive, high-achieving learning environment for all students.
