From the Principal
Swimming Carnival
Although it was disappointing that not all children could participate in the carnival because of the bad weather the modified event was a great success. Congratulations to Blake on their win. Special thanks to all who helped on the day & to Mrs McCarthy for her organisation. We look forward to hearing some great results from Northern Regional Carnival which was on today.
School Community Council
The School Community Council met for the first time this year, last week. The council is made up of interested parents who have nominated to be part of the group. Elections are held when necessary. The Council’s role is to offer advice to the Principal about policy relating to students and families. The Council also oversees the operations & finances of the Canteen, Uniform Shop and Soccer club. It sets priorities for fundraising priorities for the year. This year after feeback from the survey and input from the council we be looking at funds to continue improving the playground including a native garden & natural play options at the back of the oval, new games painted on the playground & an outdoor speaker system. New laptops & Ipads will also be a focus in 2025.
Parents & Friends Working Group
The Parents & Friends meet once a term. The first meeting is next Thursday 27th February at 7pm in the staffroom. This an informal group & there are no set positions like President, Treasurer etc. We meet to discuss what fundraising & social activities we will have during the year. We usually have a particular goal we are trying to reach. Last year money raised went towards our new bubblers & their installation, sports equipment, IT and a brand new commercial oven in the canteen. Please come along and find out how you can help during the year or you might have a great idea for a fundraiser.
School Disco
Our first fundraiser will be our school disco on March 21st. We usually have a working bee at the same time to clean up around the school. So while parents are working your children will be supervised. More information will follow later this term.
